We are thrilled to announce that owner of Elephant Creative, Helen Hammond, has been shortlisted in a national award run by the Institute of Directors to honour women transforming the world of business.
Helen, who launched Elephant Creative in 2008, is one of just seven finalists in the Women Changing the Business World award, sponsored by HSBC bank and organised and publicised by national business magazine Director.
Voting is now open for the awards and we are appealing to you all to vote for Helen to see her win this fantastic award.
In the judges shortlisting comments they said: “The way in which Helen has developed a bold and different business model that is totally geared up to the modern age is nothing short of inspiring.
“Elephant Creative is a virtual marketing agency – it has no office – and it’s made up of freelance associates who specialise in the different fields of marketing and PR. While this isn’t always the easiest way to run a company, the benefits are tremendous – especially for the associates who are working mothers and appreciate the flexibility.
“Helen puts the emphasis on people’s skills and getting the job done, not on whether they are available at 3pm that day. She’s also been able to harness and support the growth of young marketing graduates, many of whom work from home and have part-time jobs or are on degree courses.
“She bypasses large office rents and invests in expertise for clients instead, and the business has grown rapidly, holding contracts with top law firms, further education colleges, trade associations and more.”
Wow, what can we say! It says it all really. We’re all proud of Helen, in fact it was the associates at Elephant Creative that nominated Helen for the award.
Helen says: “I am so pleased and honoured to have been nominated and shortlisted for this award. For me, setting up and running a virtual agency has been hard work, but this is far out-weighed by the benefits.
“We always say to our clients, they get the level of expertise and service of a top London marketing agency, but for less cost because they are not paying for our glass high-rise office block and expensive location! But it is true, I’m always so pleased to see my associates working with top level clients and getting fantastic results, whilst managing to bring up families at the same time – this has to be a business model that more companies adopt in the future.”
Voting closes on February 10th. To vote you can simply email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line ‘Women Changing the Business World’ and say ‘vote for Helen Hammond’.
Carol Bagnald, HSBC regional commercial director, said about the award: “Women are starting more businesses than ever before and their financial power is important. It’s encouraging to see how many high-profile women are now on the business world stage. This isn’t about gender diversity but leadership styles. Congratulations to the women leading the way with their entrepreneurial spirit, inspiring others to do the same.”
Carol Bagnald was joined on the judging panel by Professor Janet Beer, Vice-Chancellor, Oxford Brookes University, Dharshini David, Business presenter at Sky News, Erica Ingham, Finance Director at summ.it and Lysanne Currie Editor of Director magazine.
