Marketing & PR

Perhaps the first place to start is in tackling exactly what marketing is… enough of Kotler’s “obtaining what you need and want through creating and exchanging products and value with others”… For us, marketing is about presenting your best face, in a way people ‘get’, so that your business grows. In plain words – We like helping people to find customers and clients and then working out the best way to keep them happy! Potential business is no good… what we want for you is actual business! Ok, sales pitch over… we promise.

We think there is this veil over marketing… it’s seen as a bit of a dark art… perhaps marketing consultants are somewhat to blame for this! It’s really very sensible… if you package yourself in the right way, work out who you’re talking to and then talk to them in the right way, about the right things, in the right place… then you’ll succeed. The problem is, working out all of these things can be hard to do when you’re tied up with everyday business. It can be tricky to see the wood for the trees and know where to start. There is no shame in admitting that it’s just not your forte. Very few people went into their line of business because they were good at marketing!

The marketing work that we do covers a broad spectrum of things. That’s mostly because we believe success lies in your thinking of Elephant Creative as your ‘in-house marketing manager’. We also believe it lies in integrating all of your marketing – that means, not just doing social media, or a website, or a brochure… but thinking about the objectives and then working out a plan (across the whole marketing mix) that works for you. That might mean just sitting down and building your goals and business plan… it might mean PR or events projects… client care… brand development… business development… international spin-off strategy… channel planning… or simply delivering some best practice training. Every business is different and the last thing you’ll get from Elephant Creative Solutions is a one-size-fits-all approach to things. It’s for this exact reason that we have a team of associates that are each specialists in specific fields… so you can rely on us to provide marketing advice that is not only focused on business results, but is actually relevant to your work.

In-house counsel use social media and blogs to hire legal services

There are three kinds of lawyers in this world. The retail lawyer, selling off-the-shelf products; the hand-holding lawyer, crafting bespoke private-client relationships; and then there’s the commercial lawyer… who works with businesses (some large, some small). Ok, this is a crass over-simplification but the concept behind this statement should not be overlooked. For the retail [...]

The true cost of university – is it worth it?

At Elephant Creative we’re a mixed bunch and our experiences with university are varied. For some of us graduation is now just a certificate at the bottom of a desk drawer, for others of us it’s still a dissertation away. We’re graduates, post-grads and undergrads. Some of us left university early, some didn’t go in [...]

Computers and client relationships: Oil and water?

Working with law firms on both sides of the Atlantic has its challenges and bonuses… in particular the need for regular trips to Boston, MA (for the avoidance of doubt for those in Lincolnshire). Having found the best, flexible co-working space out there (if you haven’t visited WorkBar, you really should…) I settled down in my haven [...]
