To celebrate we’ve had a chat to the wonderful people at top Cheltenham hair and beauty spa, Stuart Holmes, and are launching an award for the best female freelance marketing consultant in the South West region.
The winner of the award will receive a spa day at Stuart Holmes Spa in Cheltenham, which recently won the title ‘regional hair salon of the year’ (amongst many others… they just can’t stop winning awards…).
Women freelance consultants working in any field of marketing are being encouraged to enter the award, which aims to recognise the talent there is in marketing outside of large agencies and in-house teams.
Elephant Creative founder and Managing Director, Helen Hammond, was inspired to launch the search after a successful year at awards ceremonies herself, starting with a Highly Commended in the company category at the national Women in Marketing Awards, run by the CIM. Helen was also a Woman of the Year finalist in the Gloucestershire Women in Business Awards and recently penned an article for national business magazine Director on the importance of flexible working conditions and trusting your staff to work from home.
“I know for a fact there are many talented, creative and hard-working freelance marketing consultants out there, but usually at award ceremonies it’s only large agencies and employees of those agencies that get rewarded,” said Helen.
“That’s why I wanted to launch this search to highlight the fantastic work freelancers do from their own homes or offices all around the region and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to team up with Stuart Holmes so we can give the winner a fabulous prize.”
Helen launched Elephant Creative in June 2008 as an independent consultant, having worked in a range of marketing roles for law firms, SMEs and charities. The business grew quickly and the company now has over 30 associates specialising in a range fields from PR, copywriting and social media, to website design, e-commerce and professional services marketing.
“Elephant Creative is a team of varied expert associates. We are not all women I should point out, but the theme ‘women in marketing’ – or women in any business sector in fact – seemed a great thing to champion on our anniversary given all the awards we have had over the last 12 months,” added Helen.
To nominate yourself or someone you know for the award email firstname.lastname@example.org with a 300 word submission and two examples of your work.
The individual must be female, self-employed and live and work in Gloucestershire, Bristol, South Gloucestershire or Wiltshire. They will need to demonstrate ambition and innovation, as well as be able to show a notable growth and development of their business practice and client list. Submissions should explain the individual’s career path to date, motivation for working as an independent marketing consultant, any innovative work practices, and the value they have brought to clients.
Submission deadline: September 30th 2013
